Tony Neal, CEO of The CORE DJs, founded the organization in November of 2004. Tonys purpose for organizing a DJ coalition was to empower and educate the core of the music industry, the DJ’s. To date, the Core DJs have expanded to international lengths with a Latino division, DJ’s in Canada and as far away as Australia, The United Kingdom, & Africa. Some of the most influential DJs and music executives are members of The Core DJs including: The Legendary Dj Scratch, The Baka Boys, & Kid Capri just to name a few.

The Core DJs Retreat acts as a reunion for DJs by inviting all DJ organizations to network with one another while attending various listening sessions, artist meet & greets and several artist/label showcases which have seen participation from Atlantic Records, Def Jam, Virgin, So So DEF, Sony BMG, Rap-A-Lot Records, Jive, Bad Boy Entertainment and a host of others.

The Core DJs started a tradition of Core Retreats

in Chicago, IL in 2005. Since then, they have produced successful Core Retreats, twice a year in several markets such as: Miami, FL (3x), St. Louis, MO; Houston, TX; Atlanta, GA (4x); Dallas, TX; New Orleans (2x), LA; Myrtle Beach, SC; and Las Vegas (2x). The last Core Retreat was in New Orleans, 2011. In May 2012, The Core DJs changed the event name MixshowLIVE to bring the bi-annual event back specifically to educate and help attract attention to indie artists and labels.

The movement continues with Mixshow LIVE, being used to keep up with the GROWING change of the music industry inviting radio stations, and internet stations to BROADCAST LIVE from the event, creating a social networking blitz to bring attention to our sponsors, partners, artist, labels and industry tastemakers. The Core DJs have also opened the door to other DJ organizations from around the globe to participate with their OWN events within Mixshow LIVE.

This DJ/Artist/Label extravaganza will be held Aug 8th-11th, 2013 at The W Hotel (Midtown) in Atlanta, GA.
